History: Fennel is an ancient herb. Folk tradition believes it supports courage, or it can be used to ward off evil spirits. Native to the Mediterranean, fennel was introduced to the Californian coast by Italian fishermen. While fennel has been traditionally used by women to help balance hormonal issues, it should be avoided during pregnancy, breastfeeding, and with estrogen-related health conditions.
